2. William Ming NICOLL was born on 14 Jul 1814 in Irving/Patterson, Essex Co, NJ. He died of heart failure on 24 Mar 1899 in Larned, Pawnee Co, KS. He was buried after 24 Mar 1899 in Larned, Pawnee Co, KS. He was a sadler in West Virginia. He was a farmer in Kansas City, Jackson Co, MO. Obituary: The Larned Eagle-Optic, March 31, 1899: "Mr. Wm. Ming Nicoll died at his home in this city (Larned) last Friday after several weeks of illness. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the house, Rev. Fonken conducting the services. Mr. Nicoll was born in Patterson New Jersey, July 14, 1814, and moved to Larned in 1878, first living in the county, but had for many years prior to his death lived in this city. His wife died in 1894. He leaves five children living; two in Larned, one in Perry, Oklahoma, one in Baltimore, and one in California. Mr. Nicoll was one of the oldest settlers in Larned and was one of the most respected Christian gentlemen in out midst. He always took an active interest in church work, and has served as an active elder in the Presbyterian church for over fifty years."

Martha Jane Clemens is a third cousin to Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain). Martha Jane's marriage to William Ming Nicoll establishes the link between the Clemens and Nicoll families.
